By the act of registering for the Animal Rights 2016 National Conference each conference registrant agrees to act respectfully toward other attendees, speakers and exhibitors, and Conference management.
The Animal Rights National Conference strives to create a "safe space" environment, where all participants feel welcome. We do not tolerate behavior, language, and/or literature that is hurtful to other Conference participants. This includes non-consensual physical contact and remarks putting down a person's race, ethnicity, age, size, appearance, gender, sexual expression or orientation, physical ability, or mental competence. Filming or photographing of Conference participants without consent is not permitted.
All violations should be reported to the manager on duty (MOD) at the Conference information desk. The MOD will then direct the person to a "quiet room," provide a trained counselor, and/or institute corrective action, which may include removal from the Conference or even arrest.
The Animal Rights National Conference is devoted to advancing the vision that "animals have the right to be free from all forms of human exploitation." The Conference does not welcome advocacy of continued exploitation of animals under improved conditions, sometimes labeled as "humane" or "happy." At the same time, we recognize that sincere and devoted advocates of the animal rights vision may embrace different paths, missions, strategies, and tactics. We view the respectful discussion of these different approaches (except for injury to living beings) as critical to finding our own way to advance the vision of animal rights. Individuals attempting to exclude, disrupt, or silence such discussion may be asked to leave.
Organizers of the Animal Rights National Conference have devoted considerable personal experience, ingenuity, and other resources to craft an effective program designed to bring together the animal rights advocates, while allowing for free expression of a wide variety of views. This is why individuals engaging in disruption of scheduled sessions, holding unauthorized sessions in our function rooms, and/or unauthorized leafleting and posting may be asked to leave. At the same time, our Conference is always a work in progress, and we welcome suggestions for improvements.
