THE HOTEL
Hilton Mark Center: 5000 Seminary Road, Alexandria, VA 22311; 703-845-1010.
The Hilton Mark Center Hotel is one of Washington's top convention hotels. It is our most attractive venue since we started hosting national animal rights conferences in 1981. It is filled with sunlight and adjoins a pond and a botanic preserve with running trails. We have the entire conference level, with ample meeting space.
The location is a suburb of Washington, DC, just off I-395, five miles south of the DC line. A free shuttle transports visitors to and from the Pentagon City Metro stop and National Airport every hour (on the half hour).
Here are some travel tips and a map.
Meeting Spaces
Exhibits, plenaries, and all workshops will be held in the Plaza Ballroom. Video screenings will be in the Beech Theater. Rap Sessions and Campaign Reports, as well as all meals and receptions will be held in the lovely Terrace Ballroom, all on the Conference Level. Registration will be at the bottom of the escalator.
Lodging
We were able to negotiate a room rate of only $97 + tax (10.5%+$1) for single/double occupancy -
a great bargain for a luxury hotel in the national capital area. Depending on occupancy, that works out to as little as $30/person/night including tax. All bedding is cruelty-free.
To make a reservation, call 800-HILTONS (800-445-8667) and mention Animal Rights Conference.
For multiple-occupancy floor nearby accommodations at $20 per night, please contact our Housing Office, indicating name, gender, and which nights.
Parking is free for hotel guests and $9/day for commuters.
Food
All food at the conference will be vegan. Meals will be served in the Terrace Ballroom on the Conference Level. Here are the prices, including tax and gratuity:
Lunch: $12 (soup and salad)
Dinner: $14 (hot buffet)
Receptions (late evening) free munchies/drinks.
