Peter Muller
League of Humane Voters

Peter will describe features of e-mail lists and web-sites used by the AR movement and the effect on communication within the movement.

Précis:

In the last decade e-mail lists have established themselves as the primary communications tool among AR activists.
All AR-organization from the largest national to the smallest local have their own website – or are in the process of establishing their own web-site.

The internet is today the basic communication hub for all organization including AR organizations.

If we compare our method of exchange of ideas, strategies, tactics and information twenty years ago with today -- we realize that for better or for worse the internet based computer has taken over as the central hub of interchange with others in the movement.

What can we do today? Do we still need libraries, books, journals, paper files to do research? What are some things we should be cautious about? How secure are our messages from individual and governmental snoopers? Where are we headed? Is the paperless society about to descend upon us with all it’s blessing?
